Dr. Carey Conquers Mt. Whitney…

…for the most part. For Months Dr. Carey has been preparing for this charitable climb called Summit for Someone, a program sponsored by Backpacker Magazine. The proceeds from the money he raised to go on the adventure goes to a youth wilderness program for under-privileged kids.
Despite the spectacular scenery, the terrain was quite challenging–not an excursion for the faint of heart. It was a 3 day trip that started at 8000 ft and would end at 12,000 ft, making a total for 4000 vertical feet. This would have been the largest peak Dr.Carey has climbed if it weren’t for the high winds that came upon them near the peak of the mountain. The climbing guide decided that since it was the highest winds he’s ever seen, it wasn’t worth the risk to keep on going. They only had 2000 feet to go.
“All in all, it was a fun trip,” according to Dr. Carey, “a great bunch of guys and it was exciting to sleep in a tent that was shaking from 70+mph winds.” Frankly, Bonham Dental Arts is just glad to have him back in one piece.
